According to her, to limit the risk of fraud, the Vigiciel platform requires five countries (France, Belgium, South Africa, the United States and Canada) to publish and register the number of DRC citizens residing in their respective territories. increase. electoral rolls.
This “avoids discrepancies between the exact number of Congolese residents and the astronomical number of registrations that can be presented,” Diakese said. “To not do so is to be complicit in voter registration fraud and denial of democracy,” he added.
In the DRC, presidential elections are one-time elections, not only for the legislative branch, but also for state and city council members. President Felix Tshisekedi, who has been in power since January 2019, intends to run again.
