Young entrepreneurs are challenged to lift themselves out of poverty by leveraging the business opportunities offered by the government, empowering themselves and contributing to the country’s economic growth.
This was stated yesterday by Cde Charles Chiponda, member of the Zanu-PF Central Committee, during the launch of the Young Entrepreneurs and Board of Directors for Economic Development (YEDED) in Bulawayo.

As President Mnangagwa’s administration ramps up its efforts to rebuild its economy towards a middle-income country by 2030, the Second Republic has opened the floodgates of economic opportunities to empower young people from all walks of life.

Opportunities are being created for young people in three key sectors of the economy that are critical to realizing Vision 2030: mining, agriculture and tourism.
President Mnangagwa said the youth human capital base should be strengthened through the restructuring of technical vocational training centers, leadership development training programs and the fostering of youth start-ups in different sectors of the economy.
Cde Chiponda encouraged young people to create jobs and wealth by seizing the vast opportunities presented by the Second Republic and capitalizing on the country’s vast wealth.

He said that if we take full advantage of this opportunity, we can significantly reduce youth unemployment.
“Since the Second Republic is rallying with the support of young people in the country, young people must be able to take advantage of such opportunities. As much as the younger generation should be at the forefront when it comes to the country’s economic liberation,” said Cde Chiponda.
“Young people should explore business opportunities and empower themselves in all sectors of the economy.
Cde Chiponda pointed out that some young people tend to go into business and make mistakes without doing proper research first.
“Often, there are young people who blindly venture into business without doing any research on their own. I am dedicated to giving young people a sense of purpose,” he said.
“Not only is the Second Republic ready to help young people, but the government is investing in projects to support young entrepreneurs across the country. That’s why we put organizations like the Bank at the young people’s disposal.”
Apart from the Youth Empowerment Bank, the Second Republic also established Youth Desks in all ministries to mainstream the needs of youth. Meanwhile, the revised National Youth Policy is another demonstration of the commitment by President Mnangagwa’s administration to provide practical solutions. A challenge for young people.
YEDED President Cde Clemence Kadungure praised the Second Republic for making great strides in supporting entrepreneurial youth.

He said the YEDED platform will help promote businesses and social networks economically at home and abroad.
“The support we are getting as entrepreneurs will help us move towards economic growth, job creation and full ownership of the economy. We invite everyone to connect, connect and grow with us,” said Cde Kadungure.
ZimTrade Southern Region Manager Jacqueline Nyath said their organization offers a youth entrepreneurship program to support their efforts.
“We offer a wide range of services to help young people and training programs to boost businesses, whether they are export market companies or local business companies,” she said.
“Some companies may not have enough information about their target market or operating agreements, especially if they are operating abroad, so we can help by providing services that promote them.”
Young entrepreneur Tinashe Chihota said the Second Republic is promoting youth participation in development issues.

“This launch was important for us young people, not only because it gave us an understanding of the business community, but also because it gave us knowledge about the steps to follow when stepping into the world of business.” He said.
“Platforms like this clearly reflect how supportive and open the Second Republic is when it comes to working with young people.”
