Eagles promote Harris, 49ers promote two players for NFC Championship Game originally appeared on NBC Sports Philadelphia
The Eagles on Saturday afternoon promoted veteran safety Anthony Harris in the NFC championship game against the 49ers at the rink on Sunday.
Harris, 31, was also promoted in a divisional round game against the Giants but was inactive. Just because he got promoted doesn’t mean he’ll play. In fact, Harris seems to be inactive.
Harris has been back on the Eagles’ practice team since December but hasn’t played this season. Harris said he was the starter for this defense in 2021.
The Eagles are very healthy going into this game. Nickel cornerback Abonte Maddox entered the week question-marked with a toe injury, but is expected to be fully involved and playing by Friday.
That means the Eagles have all 22 offensive and defensive starters in the game. It’s pretty impressive.
Meanwhile, the 49ers promoted several veteran players for the conference title game. They called him RB Tevin Coleman and CB Janoris Jenkins.
Coleman’s promotion is particularly interesting given the health of the 49ers’ other running backs. Christian McCaffrey (calf) was under injury report but is expected to play. But running Elijah Mitchell entered the weekend in question with a groin injury. , which may indicate that Mitchell is not ready.
Coleman, 29, has appeared in five games for the 49ers this season, but has just 12 carries for 26 yards. A former third-round pick who previously played for the Falcons and Jets.
Jenkins, 34, has played just two games for the Niners this season.
