With that growth, and with the shock of an entirely new form of transportation that appeared just a few years ago, becoming a staple on city streets, there is no doubt that safety concerns will come to the fore.
Sun wrote about these safety concerns, and we at Lime wanted to address them in detail. Because the truth is that the success of micromobility here is due to a fundamental focus on safety. Safety enables the success of micromobility.
Denver and Colorado have enabled sustainable transportation to thrive. How? By building safe and protected bike lanes, we work with micromobility operators like us Lime to continuously tweak and improve. By offering policy initiatives such as statewide e-bike refunds, we encourage people to transition to greener transportation.
According to internal data, 600,000 people in Denver rode Lime’s e-bikes and e-scooters more than 2.7 million times this year. Beginning in the spring when gas prices skyrocketed, people began looking for affordable and sustainable transportation. People in Colorado and Denver never looked back after finding micromobility as a solution to their transportation problems.
Throughout the summer and fall, Denverers rode with Lyme to the ball arena to watch the Avs take home the Stanley Cup and to connect with other transportation options around Union Station. . In 2022, a total of 430,000 people will ride Lime for the first time in Denver. We expect that number to increase in 2023.
Another reason Denver’s ridership continues to skyrocket is our commitment to getting everyone on board. Through our Lime Access program, we strive to make our vehicles available to all residents. This provides a significant discount to everyone who qualifies and helps micromobility grow equitably.
We also partner with local organizations such as Servicios de la Raza to raise awareness and encourage neighbors to use Lime Access. In 2022, signups have increased fivefold over his, a more than 435% increase compared to 2021. We plan to build on that success in 2023.
Among all the incredible stats, the one we’re most proud of is that 99.99% of all these rides were successfully completed. Denver now truly enjoys the best of both worlds. Fast-growing passenger numbers are combined with a consistently strong safety record even during record growth.
Rapidly growing a new mode of transportation is a daunting task. We thank the City of Denver for being our partner in choosing sustainable transportation and making it safe to use. We work with the city to solve problems before they arise and find solutions when problems arise. Just as cities invest in bike lanes and safe road infrastructure, we invest millions of dollars in hardware, e-scooters and e-bike parking. We have built dozens of stations so far, and plan to build hundreds more in the future.
We have upgraded our fleet to new Gen4 e-bike and e-scooter models. These models have numerous safety improvements and are more sustainable than ever.
Denver’s model of using safety to create a successful micromobility city is becoming a role model for cities across the country and even around the world.
