Elite Agent Samantha McLean shares her top five marketing tips in a conversation with businessDepot’s Dean Yeo.
Whether you spend a day building your marketing database or know which social media platforms to tailor your content to, these tips are easy to implement and will pay off big with little effort.
1. Connect with everyone you meet
Samantha says the easiest way to grow your database is to connect with everyone you meet, especially on LinkedIn.
This could be as simple as writing a quick message to your recent connections and saying that you enjoyed meeting someone and would like to keep in touch.
“I love LinkedIn because you don’t have to be all social on LinkedIn, just talk about your shop and it’s totally acceptable,” she says.
2. Marketing at the local level still matters
As counterintuitive as it may sound, a downturn in the real estate market can actually be a great opportunity to give your marketing a boost, says Samantha.
“The problem is, if you’re a real estate agent and you keep a little quiet, all people hear is the mainstream media, which is full of bad news right now,” she says.
Instead, Samantha says you should act like you’re a local news reporter.
3. Marketing is Presence
It may be tempting to jump on the latest social media platform, but before doing so, you need to assess whether your target market is actually active.
“If you’re looking for an audience to promote your content with, think about who your target customers are and where they might be,” she says.
“Focus on that platform and then divert to other platforms.”
4. Structure makes marketing easier
Don’t like creating content? No problem. Social Even if he could set aside time each day to interact with others on the platform, Samantha says he still needs to create a profile.
“Even if you don’t like creating content, spend 10-15 minutes a day connecting with people, especially on LinkedIn, and liking and commenting on their posts,” says Samantha.
“This builds real relationships in marketing…and you don’t have to do anything else.”
5. Relevance, Relationship, Presence (RRP)
If you’re having trouble remembering the tips above, just remember the acronym RRP.
It’s a term coined by Samantha and her team of elite agents to mean relevance, connection and presence.
“We believe we need all three of these things to market and grow our business,” says Samantha.
That means having relevant content, a strong presence where your clients are looking, and building genuine relationships both online and offline.
Remember these three terms and you’ll do your best.
