West Ham have agreed to sign striker Danny Ings from Aston Villa and Hamers will pay around £15m for the England international.
Ings joins the London club from Villa and has scored six Premier League goals in 18 appearances this season, adding further competition to the Hamers’ front line alongside Gianluca Schamacca and Michael Antonio.
West Ham have scored just 15 goals in 19 league games this season and their form in front of goal has been a big factor in their struggles in the Premier League. They are 18th in the standings, just ahead of Everton, who they face this weekend, and Southampton on goal difference.
The 30-year-old, who joined Villa from Southampton for £25m in 2021, has yet to reach the same heights at Villa Park as he did at St Mary’s. Nevertheless, the three-cap England forward has scored 14 goals in 52 appearances for the Villains in all competitions.
Impressive addition could see Antonio leave Hammers

With Ings nearing completion of a move to London Stadium, a move for Lorient’s Terem Mofi has not been ruled out either.
Lorient would accept West Ham’s offer worth £25million, but a source said Lorient is undecided about a transfer.
Antonio has Premier League interest.
Michael Antonio is West Ham’s all-time Premier League goalscorer, but has only scored twice in the league this season.
When asked about the possibility of leaving earlier this week, Antonio said:
“If anything changes, it will change. We have a striker and we may be looking at other strikers because we are not doing that right now.”
Antonio has publicly criticized the club’s performance this week, soccer podcast for soccer players Their broader style of play this season was “not working”.
He said: “The team is playing against us like they used to. This is a transition. We are trying to transition to become a bigger team, but to be honest, It’s not going well.”
Hamers considering sacking Moyes if Everton lose
West Ham are considering replacing manager David Moyes if they lose at home to Everton on Saturday.
Moyes is under pressure as he has scored just one point in his last seven league games.
Moyes is credited with doing a good job, but more was expected after West Ham spent £160m in the transfer window last summer.
They are 18th, the only goal difference being away from bottom of the Premier League.
In the last two seasons, West Ham have finished seventh and sixth behind Moyes.
