MILWAUKEE — The Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office on Wednesday said it found no criminal responsibility in Brion Green’s apparent suicide.
They added that it did not include liability for employees of the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Department.
Green, 21, died in a Milwaukee County jail last June, minutes after being booked.
After his death, Green’s family sought answers and believed his death could have been prevented.
Green was arrested on 26 June 2022 in Bradford Beach on several misdemeanor charges.
Previously, the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office ruled Greene’s death an apparent suicide.
According to the DA, the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office has launched an internal investigation into Greene’s death “to determine whether any MCSO policies or procedures were violated.” They are also considering whether they can take more steps in such cases in the future.
“The loss of life from one’s own hand and accident is tragic. Our thoughts and prayers continue for Mr. Green’s loved ones,” a DA official said in a release.
