Asia’s most popular cryptocurrency wallet BitKeep, which claims to have more than 6 million users, has been hacked with various tokens worth about $8 million, developers said Monday.
The stolen assets include approximately $4373 in BNB, $5.4 million in USDT, $196,000 in DAI, and $1233.21 in ETH, according to a tweet from blockchain security and data analytics firm PeckShield. The wallet has also suspended service to ensure that no other security issues exist.
BitKeep, which supports tokens from over 30 blockchain networks, immediately notified all users of the unfortunate hack. In an official Telegram group, the multi-chain crypto wallet said in an initial investigation that it suspected some of his APK package downloads had been “hijacked by hackers and installed hacker-implanted code.” I was.
BitKeep said through its Twitter account that its development team is working hard to identify and contain the scope of the hackers. Until then, we would tell users whose money was stolen that an unknown (unofficially released) version of the application they downloaded or updated might have been hijacked.
For the safety of user funds, BitKeep suggests that users who download the APK version transfer their funds to “a wallet downloaded from another official store (App Store or Google Play).” Additionally, it is recommended to use a newly created wallet address as addresses created via apk can be leaked to hackers.

This attack is the latest in a long list of exploits over the past few months. In early October, the BitKeep wallet’s swap functionality itself was exploited, allowing the attacker to steal approximately $1 million worth of his BNB chain and Polygon-based tokens. At the time, BitKeep launched a compensation portal, stating that it would refund his 100% of stolen tokens from a user.
