Milwaukee police suspect the driver was driving drunk after his car flipped over and nearly hit someone near 79th Street and the Capitol.
milwaukee – Near-miss caught on camera – Milwaukee police suspect the driver was driving intoxicated after his car flipped over and nearly hit someone on Monday, December 12.
The crash near 79th Street and the Capitol building occurred around 3:50 pm on Monday. Police said the driver, a 20-year-old man from Milwaukee, lost control and crashed into a curb.
There are tire marks on the sidewalk and grass. The car also hit the flagpole. The car landed on the roof of the parking lot of the Capitol Quick Wash Laundromat just a few feet away from where someone was working.

“If you’re not a good driver or a careful driver, they will definitely run you over,” says Robin Momon.
Momon and other residents of Milwaukee’s north side told FOX6 News that reckless driving is all too common.
“Driving in the streets of Milwaukee sucks. It sucks. Capitol Drive sucks,” said Vanessa Alcanter, who works as a delivery driver. “If you look at them in the rear-view mirror, they come very fast.
Since May, the city of Milwaukee has towed an unregistered vehicle involved in reckless driving. Since then, MPD documents show authorities towed 156 of his cars. Most of them were arrested for speeding over 25 mph on the limit.
Milwaukee safe city advocate Jordan Morales, who shared the data, said it may be working.
“It’s dangerous,” Momon said. “You have to be careful everywhere you go. You look at everybody, you look at all the cars, you look in the rearview mirror, someone is speeding and you have to slow down, so it’s not safe.”

“I hope something changes, which means something has to change,” said Alcantar.
According to MPD documents, 82% of the vehicles towed were returned to their owners, 13 were put up for auction and some were scrapped.
