The Discover Coppell marketing campaign receives more funding after the City Council approves an additional $224,000 for the initiative.
Discover Coppell is a joint initiative of the city and the Coppell Chamber of Commerce. The campaign, launched in his October, aims to raise awareness of Coppell’s appeal and encourage people to visit. The campaign website includes things to do, events, places to eat, shop and stay.
The campaign’s original budget of $165,000 was increased to $389,000, according to the January 24th agenda item. An additional $224,000 has been approved for the remainder of this fiscal year and will be available through the City’s Hotel Tax Fund.
The Chamber of Commerce, which oversees the campaign, requested additional funding for promotional tools such as signs and digital displays, agency services, and management of contractors who conduct staff interactions with local businesses.
“Our goal as a Chamber of Commerce is to drive traffic to our hotels and restaurants,” said Coppell Chamber of Commerce Chairman Ellie Braxton in a December 13 presentation. “We oversee what the marketing companies are doing, but we are also working on our interactions with these companies and what is available here when it comes to organizing conferences and special events in Coppell. We make sure they know what they are doing.”
The council approved last year to use hotel occupancy taxes to develop marketing campaigns. The Chamber of Commerce hired Belmont Icehouse Marketing to develop and execute the campaign.
Future requests for Discover Coppell will cost $336,000 a year, according to the Chamber of Commerce.
