Comcast announced the start of “Free This Week” on January 3rd. This is a new year-long marketing campaign aimed at giving Xfinity customers more reasons to retain their pay-TV subscribers. The program offers subscription access to a weekly selection of content from participating top streaming services and premium networks.
In addition to the Xfinity Stream app and Xumo’s XClass TV, curated programming is available for X1 and Flex.
Get free access to wellness apps like The Great Courses, Gaia, One Day University, Gaiam TV, Sweat Factor, FitFusion by Jillian Michaels and more for the first two weeks. Future participating networks and streaming services include HBO Max, Paramount Global’s Showtime, Revolt, HISTORY Vault and Lifetime Movie Club.
The campaign comes ten years after Xfinity’s first free content sampling, Watchathon Week, and represents the evolution of the company’s free programming strategy of offering customers something to watch for free every week of the year. New data released by Xfinity shows that viewership numbers typically double while a network or streaming service participates in a content sampling initiative.
Sophia Ahmad, EVP and CMO of Comcast Cable, said: said in her statement.
