The Jazz have the fourth-highest offensive rating in the NBA this season, but it’s their improved defense that’s helped them in recent weeks.
The Jazz’s defensive rating climbed from 25th this year to 9th in the league during a recent strong streak.
Kelly Olynyk will miss eight straight games for the Jazz after suffering an ankle injury on Jan. 8 against the Memphis Grizzlies.
Blazers Desperate to Win
After playing .500-plus basketball in the first three months of the season, the Trail Blazers had a miserable January.
Portland went just 4-8 into the new year, slipping from the 8th seed in the West to 12th, three games back from .500.
The Trail Blazers are in the middle of an important six-game home stand after a rocky start, dropping two of their first three games.

After playing against the Jazz, Portland will host Toronto and Atlanta on a three-game Eastern Conference road trip.
