College basketball teams are heavily involved in conference play. Some will continue this weekend, others will take a break for his SEC/Big 12 challenge on the men’s side. Expect the rankings to fluctuate as each week begins to create chaos in the higher ranked teams. Here are some of the games to watch this weekend in the world of men and women.

men’s basketball
Texas Tech University (-3) LSU, Saturday 1pm, ESPNU
LSU (12-8), on a seven-game losing streak to all-SEC opponents, will pull out of conference play and face Texas Tech (10-10). This is a game that can go in two different directions. One is to get the groove back for LSU to rebound late in his SEC play. Second, both teams will have an off night, making for a close and ugly game. The Tigers are on a seven-game losing streak in double digits, but the tight spread suggests the oddsmakers are giving his LSU a fair chance.
West Kentucky, Florida Atlantic No. 21 (-12½), Saturday 3pm
FAU (20-1) is a surprise entrant to the Top 25, making it to Western Kentucky (11-10) for the second time in just two weeks. The last time these teams played, FAU was his 4.5-point road favorite as he won 76–62. Western Kentucky has had a season full of ups and downs, but this time his FAU approval ratings are much higher. Florida Atlantic is a team on the rise and on the verge of great success.
No. 10 Texas v No. 4 Tennessee (-7½), 5 p.m. ESPN
It’s cool to see two Top 10 teams face off on Saturday, and the Longhorns (17-3) vs. the Volunteers (17-3) are no exception. Two of the three games Texas lost were in the final seconds of free throws when they allowed their opponents to come back and win. Another was against a better Kansas team. Tennessee’s loss was similar to Texas’, so this guy will be a good preview of how the two teams will handle the second half of the NCAA Tournament.
Purdue, Michigan, Sunday 11:15 am CBS
The Boilermakers (20-1) held off Sparta (14-7) by just one point earlier this month. With a final score of 64-63 below the 132.5 total, the Spartans covered his 4-point spread. The spread will be higher when they face off again on Sunday, but it will likely be a highly contested game because of Michigan State’s coaching and strength. It returned to the 1st place in the ranking. In the team’s first meeting, Michigan State lost by just one point, even though a free throw at his line put him 11 behind. If the Spartans can find a way to curb that discrepancy by avoiding fouls, they have the potential to be a huge upset.
women’s basketball
No. 8 UCLA at No. 9 Utah, 1:00 p.m. Sunday
No. 3 Stanford leads the Pac-12, but Utes (16-2) and Bruins (17-3) are close behind. Utah’s scoring made it a threat – they’re a 77% free throw shooting and 49% field goal shooting team. Where UCLA can cause problems for the Utes is scoring in transition. Because they have the speed and a fearless young guard on the court. The final score is Utah 83-78.
