Lexington, Virginia – At Saturday’s VMI Winter Classic, App State’s women’s track and field closed out with a new 4x400m relay school record, three event wins and a total of 17 top-five finishes over the weekend.
4x400m relay team of graduate students from App State Jeronie SmithSenior Jada Branch,graduate student hunter robinson,Senior Mariah Atwater He won the gold medal with a new school record of 3:46.87. The previous program record of 3:47.39 was set in 2012 by Asia Dunlap, Breanna Morrison, Shenita Martin and Breanna Alston.
Senior Atwater Taylor Smith, Robinson went 1-2-3 in the women’s 200m with times of 24.42 (PR), 24.47 and 24.48 respectively. Atwater also won gold in the women’s 400m, stopping the clock with a time of 56.02 (PR), with Robinson in her fourth place with her time of 56.74. Smith finished third in the women’s 60m final with a time of 7.52.
