The founder and CEO of Catalyst Fitness and Two-Brain Business sees a bright future for the city he loves if more residents choose to start their own ventures.

“A big chance for the Sioux to become a growing, prosperous and progressive community again is not having jobs for 100 steel workers,” said a graduate of Central Algoma Secondary School. “It’s about getting 100 more entrepreneurs, and that will create 300 to 400 jobs. Cooper sees a future economy in which workers cannot be offered long-term jobs with the same employer. He says learning skills like financial literacy, public speaking, and reasoning and running your own business will help today’s students succeed.

“For many people, you’re not going to go out and hand in your resume and have a 40-year career.

In his early years, he struggled to run a gym. Catalyst Fitness was “really in trouble” around 2009. At the Marie Innovation Center, which participates in mentoring programs offered by Sault Ste., Cooper is the sixth CEO of Algoma Steel and his 2006 CEO of Canadian Business magazine. was seen pairing up with Denis Turcotte.

““I was trying to do everything myself,” Cooper said of his challenge. I felt like I had to.”

Cooper started a blog, DontBuyAds.com, to help people remember lessons learned at mentorship meetings.

“We needed a textbook on how to run a business, but it didn’t exist,” he said. “I was writing my own textbook.”

Cooper’s post prompted an offer to speak to a gym owner in Fort Lauderdale. Cooper has compiled his 20 best posts to share in the book. That effort evolved into Two-Brain Business: Grow Your Gym. His efforts to help other fitness his studio owners have sold 32,000 copies. Readers wanted Cooper to help them with their business. Demand increased. Cooper brought in more mentors to help clients.

“They emerge with better businesses making more money,” he said.

His company-backed gym owner sees salary rise from $40,000 to $100,000 by focusing on priorities such as customer retention, client recruitment, and adequate billing for services provided He says you can see him do it.

“Too many entrepreneurs leave their businesses with too much as a security blanket, starving existing businesses to feed their businesses rather than pay them,” Cooper said.

Two-Brain Business has produced over 30 millionaires. Mentorships are typically 12 to 31 months.

“Either that business picks up and you buy other gyms, open other gyms, or you say, “OK, I got it from here.” ”

Two-Brain Business currently has 56 mentors in over 6 countries including Australia, Germany, Sweden and Ireland.

Cooper is from St. Joseph Island and lives in Echo Bay. Lake, his Superior State University graduate, is very happy to have a business near his home after opening his Catalyst Fitness in Illinois and Wisconsin.

“You don’t really know how great Sue is until you walk away from her and are like, ‘Wait a minute. You can live in Sioux for a fraction of the cost compared to Toronto,” he said. “You can literally walk out the back door with your ski boots on.”
