A high-stakes match on the final day of the group stages of the 7th African Championship of Nations (CHAN).
One team from Groups D and E will advance to the CHAN Knockout Stage on Tuesday, January 24th.
Mauritania will face Mali at 5pm (UTC+1) at Stadium Olympique Doran. Each team has earned points from their previous games and will be aiming for victory. Angola, who are leading Group D by two points, will be watching closely.
Cameroon will play Niger in the same stadium at 8pm (UTC +1). Top of Group E with 3 points. Anything can happen as Niger managed to grab one point when they drew with Congo on Friday (January 20).
knockout stage
Hosts Algeria qualified easily with two wins. They finished the group phase with a 9-point clean sheet in Group A. Mozambique, second in the group, will also play in the Round of 16.
Senegal (6 points) and Ivory Coast (4 points) have booked tickets for the next stage in Group B.
In Group C, Madagascar made history on Monday (23 January). They finished first in Group C, Advance to the quarterfinals in the first appearance. They joined Ghana, who qualified on Thursday (19th January).
The first match of the knockout stage will take place on Friday (January 27th).
Algeria will face Ivory Coast as Madagascar attempt to fulfill CHAN’s dream by defeating Mozambique.
The final will take place on February 4th. CHAN defending champions Morocco are out of the tournament after a dispute with Algeria.
Fifteen of CHAN’s 18 coaches this year are African, a new record for the tournament.
