Central Mountain Entrepreneurs will be holding its 2023 Ascent Launch Party on Thursday, January 19th at the Salida SteamPlant. The welcome reception will begin at 4:00pm and the launch party will begin at 5:00pm. Introducing a cohort of business participants in 2023, with three key speakers sharing their business startup stories.

The pre-event promotion will provide some highlights from the three featured speakers. One of his key themes for this year’s Ascent Launch Party is the power of entrepreneurs to help build communities.
Mike Harvey — Few local founders do the concept as perfectly as the founder of Badfish SUP.
Mike moved to the Upper Arkansas River Valley in 1993, just six days after graduating from high school at the age of 18.
school. He came to Ark Valley to work as a guide and fell in love with kayaking on whitewater as well as guiding. Along the way, he became fascinated by the Valley of the Ark itself.
Mike co-founded Badfish SUP, a Salida-based company that manufactures and sells industry-leading stand-up paddleboards, pioneering one of the fastest growing river sports segments in recent years. On top of that, Mike and his team have helped and inspired his creation of the hot new outdoor trend of surfing the river. Since 2000, he is a pioneering whitewater park designer.

Karin Walsh — The founder of Elevation Beer Company will also share his startup story at the Ascent launch event. He has made the transition from beer to broadband and was recently named CEO of Colorado Central.He has been a board member of the Chaffee County EDC since 2013.
