Carol – Village residents apparently want a downtown coffee shop, as June Queen, co-owner of Carroll Cup Coffee House, said business has been doing well since its grand opening on Dec. 3. It seems that
“Overall, I think it was very well received by the community,” she said. “We have had a tremendous amount of community support.
Customers can find typical coffee house drinks at 75 E. Canal St. Business, with the majority of drinks being espresso-based.
“We do espresso shots,” said the Queen. I have.”
Bakery items such as cinnamon rolls are available. Queen said Cinnamon’s role was particularly popular.
“Cinnamon was a big hit,” said Queen. “We can’t keep them. We sell a lot of them very quickly.”
Queen owns a coffee house with her husband Don. The new business took about a year to create, she said.
“This is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time,” Queen said. “We had our eye on this building. My name is Carol. He is a member of the Area Historical Society, so I love history. We live in a historic house and have always been fascinated by this building. I did.”
The building is over 100 years old and was once a hardware store. It had been in storage for the last 30 or so years before it was purchased by Queens.
This is the Queen’s first foray into business ownership. June Queen has a data management job from her home and is a registered nurse. Don Queen is retired from the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) business. At Queens, he has four part-time employees and plans to add a fifth.
Carroll Cup Coffee House is open Monday through Saturday from 6 AM to 3 PM.
