Camp Point, Illinois (WGEM) – Not only are new businesses moving into this part of Adams County, but operators are taking advantage of the old Camp Point building, which was once vacant.
Mid-West Accounting and Consulting’s Nathan Janssen said new companies are coming to the town to provide services to residents who would normally have to travel to other cities.
“I decided to open my own company just to get that flexibility. There are a lot of companies that are leaving to take that opportunity. There are not many new accounts entering the market,” Janssen said. says Mr.
Janssen said he purchased the building in May. The building will house other businesses such as Pumped Up Balloons and Beyond, as well as a fitness center that the community doesn’t have yet.
“You don’t even have to drive to Quincy or Mount Sterling. It has everything you need. We have a grocery store, multiple restaurants and other services instead of going outside the community. We do,” says Janssen.
Camp Point Area Business Association Chairman John Hibbert said only a handful of businesses have closed in the past two years due to the COVID-19 plight, with others migrating out of the business world.
“Even though there has been some movement or relocation, the business has increased. “There was probably a year or so when there were no restaurants here.”
Shake Shack, for example, was sold last week to a drink shop owner in Mount Sterling, he said.
“Any business, regardless of size, brings jobs to the town, so Camp Point is not only a great place to live and a great place to work, but many additional businesses are coming. And then there are jobs, it’s an option,” Hibbert said. “So he doesn’t have to drive 30 minutes to get to work. There are more and more opportunities in the city.”
According to Hibbert, Shake Shack’s new owners want the service to be available year-round.
