CA Sri Lanka urges entrepreneurs and businesses to navigate crisis successfully at regional conference

January 10, Colombo: With the crisis becoming a daily phenomenon in Sri Lanka and the ongoing economic crisis affecting entrepreneurs and businesses alike, the Association of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) has announced how Kandy recovering from the current crisis at the 2nd Regional Conference in

Revolving around the unique topic “Unconventional: Business is More Than Usual”, the conference was led by chief guests Prof. MD Lamawansa, Vice Chancellor of University of Peradeniya and Duminda Hulangamuwa, Vice President of Ceylon Chamber. It was opened by Mr. EY Sri Lanka’s Commercial Director, Senior Partner and Tax Officer delivered the keynote address.

Held for the first time in the Hill capital, the conference brought together many professionals, including chartered accountants, as well as entrepreneurs and business leaders from the region to build their entrepreneurial stature to survive, rebuild and rebuild. Sanjaya Bandara said at the event that Sri Lanka, as a country, has become accustomed to various forms of crisis including terrorism, tsunamis and other natural and man-made destruction. But the ongoing crisis is very overwhelming for many.

“We cannot get out of this crisis without change. to do what is right for the country and its people?” he asked, adding, “The answer is clear. we have to work on,” he added.

Speaker Saman Surilal said the economic crisis persisted despite the end of queues for fuel and gas, with daily blackouts severely impacting small businesses and large-scale production. said. He predicted that the situation would get worse in the future due to prolonged blackouts and further increases in electricity prices.

“The crisis will escalate, affecting many businesses and small and medium-sized businesses, which will be particularly hard hit. The regional conference aims to provide insight and informative sessions on how businesses can teach differently in times of crisis,” he said.

The conference also consisted of three sessions. The first session focused on ‘Crisis is more than ‘business as usual” and the second session was on ‘Being an entrepreneur: how and what entrepreneurship works in times of crisis’. can we achieve?” This was followed by a third session on ‘Bouncing Back and Rebuilding Business’.

The first session speaker was Dr. Rohan Pallewatta, Executive President of Lanka Harness Co. (Pvt) Ltd. The panelist was Ajith Perera, founder/managing director/principal designer of Anuradha Ceramics (Pvt) Ltd. and Pottery. The moderator of the session was Professor Athula Ekanayake, Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration, University of Peradeniya and Vice President of the Sri Lanka Finance Association. .

In the second session, Professor Sarath Kodithuwakku, Dean of Agriculture, University of Peradeniya and Director of Sri Lanka Institute of Management appeared as a speaker, and the panelists were Dr. Kalpana Ambepitiya, Senior Lecturer, General John Koterawala, National Defense College. & Entrepreneur, and Mr. Rohan Senewiratne, Founder and Managing His Director of Atarah Capital (Private) Limited. The conference ended with the third and final session. The session featured a strong line-up of corporate leaders and visionaries, delving deep into how they’re rebuilding their businesses by ‘bouncing back and forth’.
