Philadelphia – Arturas Karnisovas enjoys the view from 50,000 feet.
What does the Bulls’ executive vice president of basketball operations see from there? Who’s guess?
Karnisovas sees a 9-2 combined team against Eastern Conference powerhouses Miami, Boston, Brooklyn, Milwaukee and now Philadelphia after Friday’s 126-112 win at Wells Fargo Center. Or is he looking at a team that can stand up and face Big Boy but shows no urgency to lesser competition?
Is he looking at a team that can reach the second round of the playoffs? Is it the bar Karnisovas set for this team in the fall? Or is he overly obsessed with fool’s gold?
With the trade deadline just over a month away and each organization having to start making decisions, coach Billy Donovan expected to know what his boss was thinking sooner or later.
“I really like this group,” said Donovan. “I love how they come to work every day and how they try to improve. I still believe in the group. I am emotionally there with them every day.” [Karnisovas] We’ll probably have 50,000 feet of views over everything and have those conversations, but for the time being, regardless of what happens when the day comes, my responsibility to our staff and team is , I feel, is how we strive to be the best versions of ourselves more consistently. “
But Donovan also knows this team’s disappointing moments, especially losses to the likes of Orlando, San Antonio and Houston.
That’s why he said on several occasions that they were inconsistent.
“This is who we are,” said Donovan.
Is it worth the bet to expect these Bulls players to step into the octagon again when the playoffs hit and the competition is at its best?
With the February 9 trading deadline fast approaching, only Karnisovas knows the answer.
“We’re on the same page and we’re thinking the same way. There are these moments that show really good hope and promise.” And obviously they have to take responsibility for that, we all do. [Karnisovas is] Evaluating and watching the team, I’m sure those conversations would make him feel a little deeper.

Adding this win to the list of reasons to keep this roster intact and even become a buyer in a few weeks? LaVine had his opinion.
“Last year we did our best and showed what we can do. [at this time]said Lavigne. “We were the number one team in the East. At our best, we’re one of the best teams in the league.
“That’s for them to decide. I play every night and I’ve won fewer games than I used to, so I’m not worried about the roster.”
