Charlotte — The FBI is helping investigate a series of robberies and robberies at arcades and other businesses in Charlotte and Monroe.
Channel 9 has revealed court documents describing all the businesses targeted between May and November.
Court documents show eight linked armed robberies in Mecklenburg and Union counties.
Some businesses were attacked multiple times, and one robbery saved the suspect $20,000.
“I thought about what happened,” said a witness who requested anonymity. “That’s why I stopped going.”
The woman said she was one of 10 people inside the Blue Dragon Arcade on South Boulevard in May.
“Oh, I was scared,” she said. “I was so worried about what was going to happen. I didn’t know what they were going to do. What they could do.”
Police believe the men who robbed Blue Dragon also ran into an arcade on Valleydale Road, where suspects were tricked into breaking into by claiming to work for Amazon.
According to the warrant, one of them was wearing an Amazon delivery suit and was carrying an Amazon box. When an employee opened the Skill Games Arcade door, the suspect knocked the employee to the ground and pulled out a large handgun.
Investigators said the shooter stole $8,000 from Skill Games and $20,000 from Blue Dragon.
A woman at Blue Dragon said there was a lengthy altercation during the robbery.
A witness said, “He repeated many times that they were disobeying his demands and making them think he was going to shoot them.” “So I had to yell at the guy, ‘Open it now,’ so he could get out of here.”
She said it was the first time she had been to an arcade and she would never go there again.
“The people who worked there, the manager, or whoever[they]weren’t trying to protect us,” she said.
Other businesses specified in the warrant are:
- Midway Skill Arcade, West Highway 74, Monroe
- GMS Cyber Center, Patton Avenue, Monroe
- Express Mart, Patton Avenue, Monroe
- 601 Food Mart, Concord Hwy, Monroe
