Jeremy Sorci named co-owner of Premier

Humboldt County investment advisory firm Premier Financial Group has announced the appointment of Jeremy Sorci as its newest co-owner.

Providence Redwood Memorial Hospital announced this week that it was one of nine hospitals to receive at least 90% or better by the Partnership Health Plan’s Hospital Quality Improvement Program (Hospital QIP). Redwood Memorial Hospital achieved 100% on all 14 items.

Sequoia’s new name is Cardinal Services.

On Thursday, the Eureka Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to announce the new name of Sequoia Personnel Services, Cardinal Services.

Sequoia Personnel Services is one of Humboldt County’s oldest employment services companies. The company was founded in his 1980 by Liana and Bud Simpson.

In 2016, 36 years later, Liana Simpson sold the company to Cardinal Services (Cardinal Services). Cardinal Services is a family-owned Oregon-based employment services company with roots in Humboldt County. The founders of Cardinal, Budd and Gail Freeman were graduates of Eureka High School in 1956.

Cardinal’s newly appointed head of human resources, Tomas Chavez, is excited about the transition.

“The merger of SPS and Cardinal gives our customers access to a larger pool of expertise and a broader selection of affordable, customized workplace solutions,” he said in a news release. “Although our name has changed, Cardinal represents the same commitment to providing the same excellent customer service that local guests have come to expect from Sequoia.”
