Permits are starting for the next major project at Longview Business Park off Eastman Road.
On January 6, Hayes Engineering applied for a development permit to “build a new manufacturing facility for metal building components” at 2377 Neiman Marcus Parkway.
In 2022, Longview Economic Development Corporation awarded incentives to attract Merit Fabricators to Longview. The company has agreed to create at least 25 full-time jobs and invest at least $22 million in new facilities at Longview Business Park. LEDCO agreed to give the company his 18.4 acres of land in a business park valued at $643,000 and advised the City of Longview for tax breaks.
Merit Fabricators has partnered with Florida-based Allied Steel Buildings, which has manufacturing facilities in Spain. The Longview facility will be a “new advanced manufacturing operation” using structural steel to produce “customized prefabricated commercial and industrial buildings…”, LEDCO previously reported.
new storage facility
The $1 million+ project will transform the former hotel grounds into a new climate-controlled self-storage facility on Eastman Road and Marshall Avenue.
According to a building permit application to the City of Longview, the construction value of Platinum Self Storage is $1.2 million.
Kilgore firm Roberts and Hatchett Partnership is building the facility, which it says will eventually be 69,000 square feet. In addition to the storage facility, Roberts and Hatchett operates his Zippy J’s next to the construction site, as well as other gas stations and convenience stores in the area.
Pine Tree’s new retail store
Sarai Aguilar Ruiz opened The Friendly Bazaar at 902 Pine Tree Road in December.
The store offers new and used men’s and women’s clothing, brand name handbags, jewelry and homewares.
Ruiz stayed home with her children and helped her husband Oscar Ruiz with the heating and air conditioning work before opening the shop. Her three children are now adults.
“We love Longview,” said Sarai Lewis, who said the people here were “very kind.”
The store is located in a recently renovated strip shopping center. Hours are Monday through Saturday from 11am to 6pm.
Chick-fil-A playground
Chick-Fil-A on 4th Avenue announced on social media this month that it was closing its playground at its location because it needed more space.
“Our place was renovated just a few years ago, but we’re steadily expanding beyond the dining room area.” I have made a difficult decision.”
The Gilmer Road location features a “much larger” dining room for families, in addition to a playground, the company said.
“We apologize for the inconvenience and will be happy to assist you at our Gilmer Road location so that your child can enjoy the playground,” the announcement said.
