BINGHAMTON (WBNG) — This school year, 14 Bloom Tioga BOCES New Vision Business Academy students from across the region launched a company called Ventureprize to sell two community-focused products. bottom.
Students gave a presentation of the junior achievement company Wednesday morning at the Coffman Southern Tier Incubator.
One of their products was a photo puzzle around Broome County and another was an eight-pack of note cards featuring photos taken around downtown Binghamton by one of their members.
Jillian Barnes of Windsor Central High School says she enjoys helping out with her personal hobby.
The project was completed in less than three months, during which the students worked to earn a net income of $5,917.42. This is the highest amount ever made by the New Visions group.
New Visions Business Academy focuses on finance, business management, marketing and human resources. Students gain first-hand experience by working with local businesses and industry partners.
At their Wednesday morning presentation, they donated $4,500 to a local charity.
Charities include Healing Chambers, Outreach Ministries/Shower of Hope, Binghamton Rescue Mission, Southern Tier Mental Health Association, and Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse.
Bryan Cook, a senior at Maine-Endwell High School, said the greatest thing he got out of the experience was all the new people he met and the connections he made. He said he would not have met the students from his school.
