From the ‘Shark Tank’ to the driver’s seat, from New Braunfels entrepreneur turned formula driver Jake Kleiner, it’s always on.
Kleiner first stepped onto the scene with an invention that allows users to turn a common belt buckle into a drink holder, featured in the Season 4 premiere of “Shark Tank.”
“There were times when I would rest (drink) on the buckle and I was like, ‘Man, if I could hold it, it would be a lot easier,'” Kleiner said. “It’s just the hands-free type aspect. I think at one point we called it Bluetooth for drinks.”
During the show, Kleiner used his best salesperson persona to sell the product to investors, and the novelty of the item known as the BevBuckle was a huge hit.
Being on a reality TV show gave him the opportunity to spread his name and grow his business.
“From that day on, everything went 1,000 miles an hour,” says Kriner.
The entrepreneur eventually sold his company and the new owner is earning millions of dollars from successful drink accessory sales.
“It was just one of getting to the point where you’re an entrepreneur and you get to the maximum of what you can do,” Kleiner said. There are people who have the resources to make it faster.”
With the ‘Shark Tank’ in the rearview mirror, Kleiner is ready to tackle his next adventure: driving a race car.
Since getting his first car, Kleiner has felt the need for speed.
“I was[always]hitting some kind of pedal somewhere,” Kleiner said.
Becoming a Formula race car driver has always been a lifelong goal of the inventor of BevBuckle. When 2022 rolled around, he decided to shift that passion into gear by taking it to the professional raceway.
The road to realizing his dream was not easy.
His latest challenge came against an experienced young racer, and the 41-year-old had to put in a lot of effort to get into the best driving shape.
But when Kleiner sits in the driver’s seat, his worries melt away and he concentrates on the task at hand.
“When you’re sitting in that car, nothing else exists,” Kleiner said. “You have no music, no scenery, no people in your ears, no worries. Everything you had was checked at the door and nothing at that point.”
With the help of sponsor Audi Dominion, Kleiner will make his racing debut as a Formula driver in the Formula Pro series in Sonoma, California at the end of February. Kleiner has not abandoned his entrepreneurial skills and plans to use his experience to one day become the team’s manager, but not before he reaches his dream of becoming a Formula 1 driver. not.
