milwaukee – A 2-year-old boy, his grandmother, and another were shot dead in Milwaukee’s Franklin Heights neighborhood on Tuesday, October 4.
The shooting occurred around 2:15 p.m., and the park where the boy was shot was littered with yellow as police surrounded the playground to collect evidence.
“It’s really, really bad here,” one neighbor told FOX6 News. She asked not to identify herself for fear the shooter would retaliate.

Neighbors said they heard gunshots and cries for help.
“I came to the door and heard a woman’s voice saying, ‘He’s been shot. He’s been shot,'” said a neighbor. “I was like, ‘Who got shot?’ I knew it was a baby.”

Police said someone fired “several shots” from a passing car and hit a 20-year-old man. The shot also hit a 2-year-old and his 74-year-old grandmother. All three were seriously injured and taken to hospital. A 2-year-old child was in critical condition. Neighbors said they held the boy until the ambulance arrived.
“It hurt me to the core. I turned 3 too, so my first reaction was to go like my kid,” she said.

Neighbors said they heard gunshots too often. So she doesn’t let her own children play outside.
“We have to do better. We have to do better – that’s all,” she said. “The children growing up now are our next teachers, doctors, lawyers, etc. They need us more than anything else.”
