Enid, Oklahoma — Chad Forbeck, 2023 President of the Northwest Oklahoma Real Estate Association, was born to be an entrepreneur.
Owners of E-Towne Realty and Property Management started their real estate business in Enid in 2005 with Enid Homesellers.
“I was lucky to start with Keith Fowler and a really good group of real estate agents,” he said.
Among the real estate agents still operating with Enid today are the association’s new vice presidents, Sondra Hernandez, Sarah Brennan and Sarah Jones.
“They helped me get off to a good start and do things right,” Forbeck said.
The association’s incoming president is Jenny Smithson, secretary and treasurer is Patrick Countryman, and past president is Amber Sprague.
After working as a real estate agent for five years, Forbeck worked with Jim Henderson of Enid Property Management to buy most of his business and start E-Towne Realty and Property Management.
He started with one employee and now has 18 employees and manages rentals statewide, including Oklahoma City and Tulsa. Forbeck he has another branch office in Woodward.
“Chad has a lot to offer and I think he will help the Northwest Real Estate Association move forward with the times and all the digital challenges,” said Hernandez.
Forbeck said he is in a good position to lead the association and is looking forward to working with the talented businessman and executive director Carolyn House.
Forbeck says he loves business and first experienced being an entrepreneur when he was eight years old. He saw a boy pushing a lawn mower that was going to mow the grass across the street for $10.
So Forbeck got more grass on the street to mow the lawn, charged them $15, and pocketed the difference.
At age 14, he began collecting baseball and basketball cards and opened a card shop on the corner of Independence and Broadway.
“I collected hundreds of Michael Jordan rookie basketball cards that kept me in business,” he said.
He laughed and said that those cards are valuable today and that he should have kept a few.
Forbeck went to Southwestern Oklahoma State University hoping to become a pharmacist, but didn’t like chemistry. He signed a delivery contract with Enid’s Post Office and Northwestern. He started his business class at Oklahoma State University.
A contract with the Post Office led to the purchase of FedEx contracts in Northwest Oklahoma and Edmond. Forbeck sold those contracts and entered real estate.
He also runs maintenance, lawn care and debt collection businesses.
“I’m a business grower,” Forbeck said.
He sits on the board of directors and is involved with several non-profit organizations including Hope Outreach, Loaves & Fishes and Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center. He is a member of the Enid Rotary Club and the Oakwood Country Club.
“The Northwest Oklahoma Real Estate Association has been involved in many regional projects and hopes to do even more this year,” Forbeck said.
“I look forward to new leadership and a great year,” said Brennan.
