Milwaukee — The Milwaukee business owner wants to add representation for different body types and celebrates them in her art.
Jodyann Morgan is the owner of CTOAN Co. This is a company that sells body inclusive candles.
“The candles are all gender-neutral and transgender inclusive,” Morgan said.

Morgan started making candles as a hobby during the pandemic. When she started she used a variety of molds, including one with a slim body.
Seeing the positive reaction to the candles, she decided to quit her job and devote herself to candle making. Morgan, she said, had a hard time coming up with a name for her company when thinking of her name.
“That’s how we came up with CTOAN,” says Morgan. “I can’t think of a name. CTOAN.”
But her customers have a lot to say.
“On the website, there are lots of great reviews of people telling us how great the candles make them feel about themselves,” Morgan said.
These curved candles are specially made to be all-inclusive. Morgan said she doesn’t represent people who look like her well enough.

“I’m a fat person. I’m queer too. I’m black too, and the company kind of embodies that,” she said.
Morgan doesn’t just sell her unique candles online. With each new collection launch, $2 for each candle sold is donated to a mutual aid or non-profit organization.
Last year, the company donated nearly $4,000 to nonprofits Morgan is passionate about.
She said she felt included by others and wanted herself to be seen in her art, especially plus-size bodies.

“They don’t think their bodies are represented in art,” Morgan said. “I just wanted to bring it to the fore. It’s about self-love, acceptance and community.”
CTOAN Co. celebrated a year of inclusivity and smiles in November. Morgan hopes her candle will continue to represent everyone and bring a smile to people’s faces.
