Switzerland remains a “pivot point” for crypto adoption in Europe and a “central point for the next phase of institutionalization,” said Bitcoin Switzerland CEO Dr Dirk Clay.
In an exclusive Cointelegraph interview in Davos, Switzerland, the CEO revealed why Switzerland remains the top cryptocurrency spot in Europe and continues to attract institutional investors.

In a discussion with Cointelegraph reporter Gareth Jenkinson, Klee explained:
“A lot of trust has been destroyed and eroded in the last year.
Founded in 2013, Bitcoin Suisse is one of the oldest bitcoin (BTC) and crypto companies specializing in asset custody, including “custody solutions in the mountains of Switzerland”.
Switzerland is known as a safe haven for cryptocurrencies in Europe. This landlocked country is credited with its role in the birth of Ethereum (ETH) and is home to Cryptohi Valley, a favorable environment for blockchain and cryptocurrency companies.
Switzerland also boasts the bitcoin and crypto-friendly city of Lugano, which hosts the annual Bitcoin conference and encourages McDonald’s to accept Bitcoin Lightning.

But even in Switzerland, crypto confidence took a hit in 2022, especially considering the FTX debacle and its ripple effects across cryptocurrencies. It destroyed a lot of trust and hurt a lot of investors,” Klee explained.
In such an environment, it helps to recall historical Swiss values. Switzerland remains a “safe and secure place to do business”.
“Swiss finish, Swiss quality is a story, a sign of the quality this industry needs because it needs a place it can trust.”
Thousands of cryptocurrency enthusiasts flocked to the cryptocurrency and blockchain event held at the World Economic Forum. The overall bear market, which took place at the foothills of the Alps at the Davos ski resort, did not seem to detract from Switzerland’s appeal.
