Best hip hop albums of 2023: this is a work in progressThe only way to compile a reliable list is to track new releases weekly or even daily. This list will be updated regularly until the end of the year to create the best of the year list.
Lots of ‘sequel’ releases planned for this year, lots to look forward to – Run The Jewels RTJ5Redmans muddy water 2Raekwon’s Build only 4 Cuban Lynx IIIsGhostface Killer best customer 2Dela Souls AOI3LL Cool Jays Goat 2Eminem’s Marshall Mathers LP 3and Jay-Z’s Blueprint 4 They are all fun albums. We are also looking forward to the expected release from EPMD (large company), Q-tip (Algorithms, riot diary, the last zulu), and Danny Brown (Quaranta). It’s unlikely that all of these albums will be released this year, but even if a few do drop, we’re happy enough.
As usual, this year’s best of list includes: not included that is instrumental album, compileWhen EPSome artists sell projects that are only 30 minutes long as albums, but HHGA classifies projects less than 30 minutes as EPs and does not rank EPs in album lists. : Album = LP. But that being said, with so many Dope EPs released every year, you can’t ignore them. Dango Fouraine – Carhartt Keith: A KARHARTT KOLLAGE
Dango Forlaine is an up-and-coming host from Detroit and his Carhartt Keith: Carhartt Collage It’s our most ambitious project to date, with a tracklist of 23 songs and a runtime of over an hour. Forlaine is a melodic yet traditional-feeling boom bap with a fun bar atop his production that manages to keep you engaged from start to finish. Carhartt Keith: Carhartt Collage An exciting project that you won’t regret checking out.
Release date: January 2, 2023.
Memphis Reigns & D-Mitch – Kasan
Kasan is an interesting collaboration between California-based host Memphis Raines and producer D-Mitch, released 14 years after their first joint album. skeleton crew diary (2009). D-Mitch’s guitar playing and hooks on most of the songs give this album a crossover feel at times, but it’s still hip-hop enough to recommend – Kasan is worth a listen.

Paulo – Boombox
“31 minutes of pure lyrical flow, futuristic boom-bap type beats.” Toronto-based rapper Paulo teamed with BeatSmith Music, who handled the production. Boombox A fun little project.
