The effects of an atmospheric river that drenched the Bay Area on Saturday caused turmoil and chaos across the region. Residents and employees spent the day battling damage from the storm.
Many residents and business owners took to social media throughout the day to share photos and videos of flooded storefronts, broken pipes and damaged walls from excessive rainfall.
A video posted on Instagram by the owner of the popular Japanese restaurant Rintaro shows the entire patio of the San Francisco facility completely flooded. Workers are standing on submerged furniture to investigate the damage.
“San Francisco storm drains leave something to be desired,” the post said.
Owners of Wooden Nickel, a bar near Rintaro, posted pictures on Instagram of the sidewalk and street in front of the bar that were knee-deep in water. North Auckland restaurant The Rendezvous has shared a video of an employee mopping up water from a rain-damaged pipe.
Dave Karraker, owner of Gym MX3 Fitness in Castro, posted: video Take to Twitter to show that one wall of the gym has nearly burned down due to water damage.
