Raleigh, NC — The North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame is proud to announce the 2023 Introductory Classes. New members listed alphabetically include Rick Burns, Jason Brown, Jeff Davis, Donald Evans, Tom Fazio, Ellen Griffin, Tom Higgins, Clarkston Hines and Bob Stonewall Jackson. , Trudy Lacy, Ronald Rogers, John Sudley, Jerry Stackhouse, Curtis Strange and Rosie Thompson. Their planned induction brings the total number of Hall of Fame inductees to 400.
This esteemed group will be honored at the 59th Annual Hall of Fame Celebration on Friday night, April 21, at 7:00 p.m. at the Raleigh Convention Center.

A Hickory native and Lenoir Line graduate, Rick Burns has established himself as one of the nation’s top men’s college basketball coaches. He has had success with George in Mason, Providence, Clemson, Texas, and now Tennessee, and his career head coaching record exceeds his 750 wins. This includes his 402 wins for Texas from 1998 to his 2015, leading three different Division I programs as his team en route to his seven-time Sweet 16. It’s his third coach. Barnes was named Naismith His College Coach of the Year for 2019 after leading the University of Tennessee to his 31 wins, tying a school record.
