BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Local businesses have provided Toys for Tots with vital support, but the organization still needs help.
Toys for Tots had to move from its previous storage facility to a new space by the end of this month.
The organization urgently needed someone in the community to step up and help by providing a warehouse where toys could be stored.
Payless Mini Storage heard the organization’s plea for help and provided eight temporary storage units to continue the search for a new warehouse.
Toys for Tots coordinator Darlene Doughty said they needed space with a loading dock of 2-3,000 square feet, but were happy to share the distribution space.
“We’ve always given to the community. If it weren’t for the toys and the community that I’m a part of, there might not be Toys for Tots this year. And after nine years of doing it, the community The whole purpose of Toys for tots is to get toys for the kids,” said Doughty.
