New research reveals a sharp drop in apps and games released by developers on both iOS and Android in 2022.
Both the App Store and iOS have shipped far fewer apps than we’ve seen before. According to AppFigures, the app developer has submitted about 1.6 million mobile his applications and games to the App Store and Google Play.
Of those, nearly 1.2 million were Android applications and games, submitted to Google Play, and nearly 400,000 to the App Store.
Most of these specific apps and games are thanks to Android and others for shipping them to Google Play. And about 400,000 have gathered on the App Store.
The difference certainly seems large, but it is quite normal and the trend of the last few years is over. It turned out to be an impressive number of applications.
But in reality, it’s 12% less than what we saw in 2021.
New application releases have been full of ups and downs. As far as the biggest decline goes, it was around 3% as we saw in 2019. On the other hand, we saw some growth in 2020 and 2021 as well.
All things considered, it’s clear the news isn’t all that bad. It’s really all about maturity and if you happen to have an application out in the open, it might be the right time to move forward with that idea. Hmm.
