Former federal prosecutor Antonia M. Apps will become regional director of the Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) New York Regional Office next month.

According to the SEC, Apps previously served as an assistant federal attorney in the Southern District of New York Criminal Division investigating and prosecuting securities fraud cases involving hedge funds, network companies, broker-dealers and others.
“Antonia brings a wealth of experience to our New York regional office,” said SEC Chairman Gary Gensler. I would also like to thank Thomas Smith and Maurya Keating for acting as co-directors of this office.”
Smith and Keating will remain as Associate Regional Directors of the Enforcement and Inspection Programs, respectively.
“Antonia’s diverse background as a securities fraud prosecutor, civil litigator and trial attorney will help her as she takes over leadership of our New York regional office,” said the SEC’s Director of Enforcement. Gurbir Grewal said. “Her leadership and her experience will benefit not only our amazing staff in New York, but the entire committee. I can’t wait to see all she accomplishes in her new role.”
Apps, which is currently a litigation partner in Milbank LLP’s New York office, will lead more than 380 staff involved in prosecuting enforcement actions and conducting compliance examinations across New York and New Jersey, according to the SEC.
