Antonia Apps Named Director of New York Regional Office

WASHINGTON, DC–(Newsfile Corp.- December 27, 2022)–The Securities and Exchange Commission today announced that former federal prosecutor Antonia M. Appres will become regional director of its New York regional office next month. Thomas Smith and Maurya Keating, who served as Acting Co-Directors, will remain as Associate Regional Directors of the Enforcement and Inspection Programs, respectively.

Mr. Apps previously served as an assistant federal attorney in the Criminal Division for the Southern District of New York, where he investigated and prosecuted securities fraud cases involving hedge funds, network companies, broker-dealers, publicly traded companies and banks.

Mr. Apps leads a staff of more than 380 attorneys, accountants, investigators, securities compliance examiners and other officials involved in prosecuting enforcement actions and conducting compliance examinations in New York and New Jersey.

Mr. Apps is currently a litigation partner in Milbank LLP’s New York office, working on criminal and regulatory matters and civil litigation. She also teaches a White-Her Collar course on criminal law and procedure at her School of Law at Harvard. Prior to that, she was a partner at Kellogg, Hansen, Todd, Figel & Frederick PLLC in Washington, DC and an associate at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobsen LLP in New York. She was Hong’s clerk. Fred I. Parker, US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Mr. Apps holds law degrees from the Universities of Sydney, Oxford and Harvard.
