While Google is about to bring the “Coolwalk” redesign of Android Auto to most users, another new feature is also coming to the platform. Android Auto, now rolling out, finally adds a seek bar to the Music app.
Android Auto has supported a variety of music apps since its inception, but one feature that has always been missing is the ability to seek to the song or podcast that is playing. Instead, the experience displays a progress bar and controls for skipping or restarting tracks. It works, but users often pull out their phones and look for music or podcasts. This is exactly what Android Auto should avoid.
An update to Android Auto’s redesigned “Coolwalk” that came out this week brought seek bar support to the platform’s music apps.
The update doesn’t seem particularly popular yet, but for those who have it, music apps like Spotify will now have a seek bar that users can drag to move between songs and podcasts. It’s a pretty simple feature, but it’s nice to finally see it. Currently, this is also something that Apple CarPlay does not widely support.
I’m not sure if this change happens only with the Android Auto redesign, or if it happens with older designs as well, but it makes sense that “Coolwalk” would be a prerequisite. can you see Drop your comment below!
