Matt Simmons, managing partner of local real estate appraiser Maxwell Hendry and Simmons, recently provided an opinion on how Lee County is responding to the economic impact of Hurricane Ian.
“Whenever I go through something like this, I look for a level where I can reference my past experience,” Simmons said.
Simmons then addressed other factors affecting recovery in the region.
“We, as you know, can work very well as an economy and have all the right things in place,” he continued. It’s what’s happening outside of our markets at the macroeconomic level. It’s happening in other regions.”
So, was Lee County better prepared financially to absorb the blows of Hurricane Ian?
“If there was a county, I’d say, ‘Oh my god, it’s awesome there.’ Based on what just happened, I think it’s Lee County. I mean, our economy is on fire here.” We’re hitting all cylinders.
