It’s been another great year for sports in the Monroe County area.
Success and failure, hope and despair. There were challenges to overcome, winning state titles, beating rivals, breaking records, and new opportunities for many student-athletes and coaches.
As usual, the Monroe News sportswriters like to kick off the new year by reminiscing about the past year.
We turned to our readers to determine what stood out most in a busy 2022. You voted on clicks, you voted on views. We’ve rounded up the stories that got the most attention.

“Airport’s Julia Mills Overcomes DUI Accident To Be Named Player Of The Year” (Jan 2) – End of 2021 high school volleyball season postponed to New Year due to COVID-19 pandemic surge it was done.
