Welcome to the 467th edition of Android Apps Weekly. Here are the big headlines from last week:
- We had some nice wallpapers this week. First, get 6 Asus ROG Phone 6 wallpapers. One of them is live wallpaper. They look very nice and are of high resolution, so they should work on most phones.
- Google updated Google Maps on Wear OS this week. This app now enables turn-by-turn navigation on Wear OS without the need for a full smartphone app. Once updated, you’ll be able to use your voice or keyboard to find your destination, and the app will take care of the rest.
- Android 13’s QPR2 update brings 20 new emojis to Pixel phones. This update adds support for Unicode 15, including new emojis. There’s not much else to this, but now that it’s available on phones, you can see the new emoji in the app.
- Google’s Extension SDK was recently published. New SDKs allow developers to add new features to older versions of Android. This makes getting the latest version a no-brainer and even people with older devices will have access to the newer ones. am.
- WhatsApp now lets you bypass internet crackdowns. The app recently received proxy support in an update. You can access it in the settings menu under storage and data. It won’t work if your internet connection is completely blocked, but it will pass through firewalls without difficulty.
- Google’s negotiations with Apple on RCS will continue until 2023. The company bought a giant billboard in Las Vegas during his CES. The video ad accused Apple of dropping the ball and even showed code examples to help integrate RCS into iMessage. Click the link to see the full billboard video.
Dominio Dreams
price: free play
Domino Dreams is a puzzle game with dominoes. Gameplay involves matching tiles on the board with tiles in your hand. You progress by clearing each board to advance to the next level. The game features over 1,000 levels and secondary mechanics of building a kingdom. I think his 4.8 Google Play rating for this game is a bit overrated for what it offers, but for fans of simple puzzle games it’s not a bad time killer.
copyist
price: Free / $59.99
Copyist is a content creation tool for bloggers. It features dozens of tools, including an article generator, blog post writer, and a section where you can get blog ideas. That’s fine, but I still think people do it better. Smaller bloggers can definitely find uses for an app like this, even if it’s a niche product.
Kart Rider: Drift
price: free play
KartRider: Drift is the latest game in the popular KartRider series. The game is a kart racer similar to games like Mario Kart. The game puts you against his seven other racers, using different power-ups and driving skills to reach the end first. This version of the game also includes several different game modes, customization options, and a choice of characters. The game runs pretty well and Kart his racer should be able to compete well in his space. Most of its bad reviews come from people who pre-downloaded the game before it was released, but didn’t know it was still physically unplayable.
food log journal
price: Free / $1.49 per month / $10.99 per year / $17.99 once
Food Log Journal is exactly what the title implies: a simple and effective way to keep track of your meals and snacks. You can use it to track your diet so you can change it as needed. Tools can be used in many ways. For example, I don’t eat breakfast, so I’ve hidden that part of the app. It’s not the most modern UI design we’ve seen, but it works well. I also like that they have a one-time payment option apart from the regular subscription model. It always earns bonus points from us.
cat snack bar
price: free play
Cat Snack Bar is a restaurant sim with lots of fat little cats. It’s a very simple overall experience. Take orders from customers, prepare food, earn money and use it to upgrade your restaurant. This is the gameplay loop we are all familiar with. Use an incremental game feature that resets your business when you upgrade. Fans of idol games know this, but non-idol fans may not. Either way, it’s a cute game that’s perfect for killing time.
