Special Note: Cursive and Google Keep
Cursive is Google’s note-taking app made specifically for handwritten notes. It organizes your notes like a notepad and detects whether you’re using a touchscreen with your finger or a stylus. The sensitivity is adjusted accordingly, but there is still a large input lag that makes writing with the stylus difficult. You can not. Every time I want to write something beyond one page, I have to create a new note. This is one of Cursive’s main problems and the reason I didn’t include it in the main list.
Google Keep is a very good application for creating small notes and reminders. It’s completely cloud-based, so all your data is synced with your Google account. But Google Keep fails, especially when it comes to taking serious notes with a pen. Pen-based features are few and far between, and there’s no way to create multi-page notes, especially if you’re using a pen.
Both web apps are good for certain tasks, but not all. For this reason, we didn’t include it in our main list of the best note-taking apps for Chromebooks. But they are indeed very good apps, and even the web version alone works very well on ChromeOS.
