Twenty people, including children, were killed in two road accidents involving trucks in southern Nigeria, officials said.

Earlier on Sunday, another truck collided with a bus in the Odigbo municipal council area of ​​Ondo state near Lagos, killing all the passengers, according to Nigeria’s road safety agency.
“Eleven people were indistinguishably burned” in an early morning crash blamed on reckless driving, according to Richard Adetro of the Department of Transportation Safety. “There was a fire, so we couldn’t rush to the scene until the firefighters arrived.”
Traffic accidents are common in many parts of Nigeria due to poor road conditions and usually non-compliance with traffic regulations. The situation is exacerbated in Nigeria’s largest city, Lagos, where trucks and other heavy vehicles often commute on the same roads as commuters.
